We are a community, following Jesus, together in Shenley.

We meet all together on Sundays at Shenley Court Hall, and you’re invited.

Following Jesus

One of Jesus’ favourite phrases was ‘follow me’. We’re trying to take up that invitation.

We love to tell and retell the stories of his life, learn from his words and example and actively put his way of life into practice all week long.

Whether you’re new to Jesus or you’ve been following for years, the invitation is given to you too.

Together

We’ve come to believe life only really works when you’re in community with others, and following Jesus is much the same.

So, we’re really into growing strong community together. It takes work and effort, but we’re trying to take Jesus’ instruction to ‘love one another’ really seriously, building a healthy community that anyone can get in on.

In Shenley

We want everything we do to be for Shenley, in Shenley and with Shenley.

This little place - and no, it isn’t Weoley Castle, it’s not really Bournville, it’s more specific than Selly Oak and it’s not quite Northfield - is absolutely brimming with life and potential.

Young and old, from Brum or beyond, God loves each person here, and as a church, our tone and practice will always seek to reflect that.

Many of us live locally in this half-mile, and all of us are ‘in’ for honouring, loving and mucking in with life in Shenley, right alongside the people that make this place what it is.

What We Believe

We are Christians, so in simplest terms, we believe in Jesus.

He’s the motivation for everything we are wanting to be! We love Shenley because Jesus loves Shenley. We want to build community here because that’s what Jesus taught his followers to do.

As a church, we don’t have all the answers by any stretch, but we believe our unique contribution to be living out the ways of Jesus, as best we can. 

The best way to find out more what that looks like is to come along and get a taste of it for yourself.

People

The church is described in the Bible as a ‘body’, where each person is like a body part - crucial, with a part to play, and dependent on all the other parts. So, we could show here any of the wonderful people involved in our church community.

But to keep things simple, here are some people bringing a lead in Shenley Community Church.

  • Rich lives in Shenley with his wife Ruth and two daughters. His favourite things are hearing people’s stories, watching the Wolves play, and that moment when you realise an acquaintance has become a friend.

  • Blake, originally from Texas, loves to live and serve alongside Shenley Community Church with his wife, Cara, and three kiddos. He loves Jesus, the church, and Texas BBQ. Just ask and he’ll invite you over for dinner to talk about all three.

  • Beccy lives in Shenley with her family. She loves living life in community and filling her home with family and friends. A great day would include an outdoor adventure, no time constraints and plenty of opportunities to connect with others.
